It's been a while since my last update and some exciting things are happening
for the Club! The Reading Traffic Club was recognized by The Junior League of
Reading as it's Community Partner for 2009 (See below). I would like to extend
an additional thank you to Phil Piersody of J.C. Ehrlich, Chad Kissinger & Scott
Hewitt of DM Transportation for manning the grill at Touch-a-Truck. An
additional mention of gratitude to George Stuhl for his coordination and
leadership in soliciting carrier support and managing the art contest for the
children (Winning drawings below).

We are down to a few remaining events in 2010: The Dick Morse Classic, The

That's all for now.

Kids Learn All About Big Rigs in Berks
Gina Gasper | Web Producer | 69 News WFMZ

SPRING TWP., Pa -- There were big rigs of all kinds at the Penn State Berks campus today, all so kids could "touch a truck."

The event is sponsored by the Junior League of Reading and invites kids to get an insiders view of trucks, fire engines, heavy
equipment and more.

The children were able to climb on the vehicles and explore.

Some of the drivers tell 69 News that letting the kids honk the horns and enjoy themselves is refreshing.

"It breaks up the monotony of driving every day. It's a nice thing to get something different besides driving up and down the highway 12
hours a day seven days a week" said Dennis Purdy of Road Scholar Trucking Company.

The Junior League of Reading focuses on creating, improving, and expanding the resources available to all children in the area.
